City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />January 5, 2021 <br />Page 4 of 6 <br />in renewal and new license fees. If Council concurs, staff would bring this matter back for <br />adoption at a subsequent meeting <br />Director Pierce stated the EVC and staff recommend approval of the resolution to launch <br />the Small Business Preservation Grant program. Staff also requests guidance on bringing <br />back liquor license fee waivers for Council consideration. <br />Public Comments <br />Mark Oberholzer, Tilt Pinball, urged Council to support this grant program noting it would <br />be a big help to the small businesses. <br />Rick Kron, president of the Downtown Business Association, urged Council to approve <br />this program to help businesses and to approve the waiving of liquor license fees. <br />Brice Young, Precision Pours, 1030 East South Boulder Road, stated his support for the <br />proposal. He stated he does not support the liquor fee waiver. <br />Councilmember Brown stated this is a good program and he supports it to help <br />businesses. <br />Mayor Pro Tern Maloney stated businesses need this funding and he supports the City <br />funding all of the $500,000 if the LRC does not bring in their $150,000. He supports <br />waiving the liquor fees for 2021. <br />MOTION: Mayor Pro Tern Maloney moved to approve Resolution No. 3; seconded by <br />Councilmember Dickinson. <br />Councilmembers Fahey and Dickinson both stated they support getting this funding to the <br />small businesses that need it now. <br />Mayor Stolzmann asked the EVC to continue to look for programs that might help <br />businesses and that are easy for staff to administer. <br />Roll Call Vote: Motion approved by unanimous roll call vote. <br />DISCUSSION/DIRECTION — REQUEST FOR SUPPORT OF COVID-19 5 STAR <br />CERTIFICATION PROGRAM <br />Members decided to forego the staff presentation. <br />Councilmember Leh stated the new program is still very new and much of the information <br />about it is still unknown. He wants to be supportive of businesses, but suggested the <br />Council not complete a letter of support until we have more information. <br />
