City Council
Meeting Minutes
January 19, 2021
Mayor Pro Tem Maloney supports this idea to keep this conversation alive and asked how
Council will make actionable policy based on their recommendations. Councilmember
Brown stated it will be up to Council how it will prioritize and take action on the
recommendations. He added it is important the task force have a degree of independence
from Council so it can identify things without Council influencing them.
Mayor Stolzmann stated community members are asking for more education
opportunities for the community as a whole regarding EDI. She stated a six to12-month
timeframe may not be long enough to get good recommendations backed with good data
and nuanced conversations.
Councilmember Dickinson stated this project is important; the work will be ongoing for
years to come and will require some tough decisions.
Councilmember Brown stated the end date is meant to focus the task force to get some
basic recommendations quickly so the Council can take action on some short term items
to start with.
Councilmember Lipton stated the group should be as broad based as possible and it will
require people very committed to the topic who are willing to spend the necessary time.
MOTION: Councilmember Brown moved to approve the resolution with a sunset date of
December 31, 2021; with 11 members on the task force; with additional areas of
discussion to include community education and enrichment; and a requirement the
Council reexamine the sunset date before the December 31 end date; seconded by
Councilmember Leh.
Mayor Pro Tem Maloney suggested monthly updates could be written reports not
necessarily reports face to face at meetings.
Mayor Stolzmann made a friendly amendment to include short-term and long-term
language in the resolution. Motioner and seconder agreed to that language.
Roll Call Vote: Motion passed by unanimous roll call vote.
EXECUTIVE SESSION
REAL PROPERTY ACQUISITIONS AND DISPOSITIONS (Home Rule Charter Section
5-2(c) and C.R.S. 24-6-402(4)(a))
Mayor Stolzmann introduced the executive session and City Attorney Kelly noted the item
to be discussed. City Clerk Muth read Section 2.90.050 of the Louisville Municipal Code,
which outlines the topics permitted for discussion in an executive session.
