Sustainability Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
January 20, 2021
'Eco-City' (see Eco-City and Ecocity Builders on Wikipedia for background info).
Also, we could/should tie-in any joint meeting to review of Sustainability Action
Plan items.
Laura L noted former member Melanie D provided info to us earlier on how to
do a joint meeting.
Todd B suggested we prioritize topics, so any meeting isn't amorphous/
unfocussed.
Tamara K. suggests we add an environmental impact section to work on
immediate priorities for the start of any project — initial design/construction;
low -impact development, vertical development vs spread footprint; comply w
endangered -species protections.
A new Redtail Ridge review application is expected some time in Feb.
Deb F suggested such concerns can also be addressed by Parks & Open
Space.
7. LSAB Member Updates and Reports:
Regarding above comments, Laura L and Dan M can go to the Planning
Comm. Dan agrees on a more succinct list & approach. Todd can help with
'Building' topics. Deb cautions we be careful about city-wide restrictions;
suggest we look at other communities' approaches.
8. City Staff Update: With her Jan-20t" Memo in our meeting packet, Katie B
covered
• 2020 Green Business Program — applications completed, rankings to be the
same as applicants had in 2019; no public reception this year, recognition
letters & stickers to me mailed to applicants; PACE participation to be revised
for 2021.
• Sustainable Film Series — final film for this winter's series to be Death by
Design, Feb 24t". Prior three films drew 50-plus participants each.
• sNOw More Waste holiday reuse contest drew eight submissions, for most
creative and thoughtful reuse projects made from holiday waste. Judging to
be done by Jan 24t". 3 winners now posted on City's website are
• Most Fun: Adrian's Salad Container Snowglobe,
• Most Useful Reuse: Ashe's Lego Organizer & Table,
• Most Creative: Josie's Broncos Holiday Card for Dad.
• City will be applying for Bicycle Friendly Community recognition in 2021.
• Planning has begun for 2021 Earth Week (April 19-25) and coordinated
events. Ideas are listed in Katie's memo. Plus, another E-Waste event is
planned for April 24t". Can LSAB provide planning and on -site support?
In addition, Katie noted the City is skipping the E-V program with Excel for
now, funding issue. Renewable*Connect filing is on hold for now; but potential
for enrollment and implementation by 2022.
9. 2021 LSAB Overview:
• Open -Government Pamphlet was distributed to us, as part of this month's
meeting packet.
