2007 SPRING MULCH
G,VE-AWAY

The Department of Land Man-
agement will host the 2007
Spring Mulch Give-Away on Saturday,
April 14, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at the
City's Branch Recycle Site on Empire
Road just north of the Louisville Cem-
etery. In the case of inclement weather
on the 14th, the event will be resched-
uled for the following week, Saturday,
April 21.
City will provide personnel and
a loader to fill trailers and pick-ups with
mulch. Participants must sign a liability

service is limited to City of Louisville
residents only. Depending on availabili-
ty, the Fall Mulch Give-Away may allow
non-residents. Please call Chris Lichty,
City Forester, at 303.335.4733 if you
have any questions.

ARBORIST LICENSE
Now REQUIRED

During 2006, the Louisville City
Council passed an ordinance
requiring private tree companies work-
ing within the city limits of Louisville
to be licensed by the City. An Arborist
License will be issued to tree care com-
panies who fulfill minimum insurance
requirements, employ at least one certi-
fied arborist, and conduct all work in
accordance with federally mandated tree
care standards and safety requirements
(ANSI A300 and Z133.1 respectively).
1hese requirements should help
protect citizens and their trees from
under insured, unqualified tree care
safety of tree workers
and the health of our urban forest will
benefit from these changes. For a license
application or to get additional informa-
tion, please contact the Land Manage-
at 303.335.4735.

COAL CREEK TRAIL COMPLETED WITHIN TOWN

"\VThcn
W encc. has been the case with some recent improvements to the
Coal Creek Regional Trail in Louisville. For years, users of the Coal Creek Trail
needed to wind through neighborhoods, walk along road shoulders, or cut
through an open field to complete the missing link between County Road and
Aspen Way. However, recent land acquisition and trail development has created
off-road experience for trail

users.

newly completed sections of the Coal Creek Trail include a segment
paralleling the Bella Vista Drive extension between County Road and Roosevelt
Avenue which was completed in 2005. Most recently, the section of trail south
of Bella Vista Drive paralleling Roosevelt Avenue was completed in the fall of
two sections, which amount to roughly a quarter mile of trail,
complete the Coal Creek Regional Trail through the City and fulfill the goal set
in 1991 to create a continuous link along Coal Creek through the length of the
City.
between Louisville, Lafayette, Supe-
rior, Boulder County, and the Urban Drainage Flood Control District, is now
approximately eight miles in length running continuously from McCaslin Bou-

to complete missing links into the City of Boulder, the Town of Erie, and south
to Broomfield and the Rock Creek Trail system.
Smaller improvements such as resurfacing, improved ditch crossings and
improved road crossings will continue to occur annually as every little bit counts
toward keeping the Coal Creek Trail a favorite destination for trail users.

COAL CREEK TRAIL
