SUBJECT: LEVEL CLEAR COVID-19 AND SPECIAL EVENTS UPDATE
DATE: MAY 11, 2021 PAGE 5 OF 8
• Social distancing and facial coverings will be encouraged.
• All guidance will be communicated through pre -event notices, signage, and
during the event.
4th of July:
• The City will hold a fireworks display on Sunday, July 4t" at approximately
9:00pm.
• Fireworks will be ignited at the Coal Creek Golf Course, with a special display
that fires fireworks higher into the sky vs. closer to the ground. This will allow for
fireworks observation from more sites across the City.
• The golf course will be closed to viewing onsite.
• The City will identify three viewing sites across city to share with public. Viewing
sites will have signage to wear a face covering if social distancing cannot be
maintained while outdoors. The Louisville Police will conduct drive-bys of all
viewing sites throughout evening to make sure there are no issues (like lighting
of personal fireworks, etc.).
Summer Concerts in the Park:
• Summer Concerts will be held this year on Thursdays July 8, July 22, July 29,
August 5, and August 12.
• Concerts will be held at the usual location at Community Park.
• These events typically attract approximately 600-800 people for each show.
• During this transition year, special measures are being taken to reduce crowd
size and limit attraction of high numbers of attendees. The following changes will
be made for the 2021 Concerts in the Park series:
o The LCC is working to book smaller, local acts that may not have high
name recognition and are less likely to attract more regional event
attendees.
o There will be no food trucks at this year's event, and no food will be
available/sold on site. This will limit congregating under the picnic shelter,
lines for food and movement of people through the crowds to get food.
(People may still bring their own food/picnics, but no food will be sold.)
o The City will not require registration or limit the number of attendees.
• Social distancing and facial coverings are encouraged.
• All guidance will be communicated through pre -event notices, signage, and
during the event.
Street Faire:
• Starts 7/23 and will be held on Fridays through Labor Day weekend.
• The Street Faire attendance will not require registration, pre -ticket purchase, and
there will be no limit to the number of attendees.
CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION
