- When will book drop and book lockers (for hold pick up) available for <br />community use? <br />- Mid June, they should be up and running for 4th of July. Just need <br />to make sure technology works. <br />D. Library Foundation liaison report (S. Nemechek) <br />- Read baby read update [handing out books at pediatrician office in Louisville]: <br />Books going quick, trying to hand out at 3-6 month check out. <br />- Planning on holding 3-4 book sales during the summer on the library pavilion <br />during farmers market. <br />Summer reading program scavenger hunt - business donate $25 and get a code <br />word that participants go looking for. <br />- Recruiting members from Superior. Have 2-3 new members from Superior. <br />- Is it appropriate for LBOT to promote the book sale? <br />Yes - it's ok. Good idea to share the post from the foundation advertising <br />the sale <br />- Foundation has a new facebook page <br />IX. Director's Report (S. Nemechek) <br />Going into level clear on Sunday. Changing service model on Monday. Basically full <br />service expect for meeting rooms <br />- The meeting rooms are being used for space for curbside pick ups and to give <br />staff enough work space to allow them to distance <br />Planning on opening on Saturdays in Mid July. <br />- CDC Mask mandate update - could cause issues. Louisville/the library will likely <br />follow Boulder county recommendations. Could put the staff in a difficult position <br />to be having conversations about masks all day long. <br />- Stats from book donation event: 9000 Ibs of books, $765 collected <br />- Dr Seuss books: <br />- Library owns 4 titles Dr Seuss estate no longer published <br />- Library decided to pull the books from the collection. <br />#1 - Dr Suess is becoming less popular, and these particular <br />books would have been weeded due to low circulation in 2021 <br />anyway <br />#2 - Concern re: racist caricatures for such a young audience, <br />can't really give them context at that young of an age. Feels like <br />doing harm to young children. <br />- Arts & events program manager position will report to the library director. <br />Overtime see any other reporting updates <br />X.
