July. Robby moved and Debbie seconded that Adam be asked to program the 2022
Summer Concerts in the park. All approved.
IX. Discussion Item: 2022 Summer Concerts in the Park. Adam was not in attendance to
discuss further.
X. Public Art.
a. Discussion Item: Anti -Graffiti coating CO42 underpass mural. Mark said this 2021 Art
Grant mural looks fabulous and would like to preserve it further by funding a special
coating over the paint.
i. Action Item: Vote on approval of using LCC funds to pay for coating. Debbie
moved and Beth seconded that the LCC approve $300 to be used for an Anti -
Graffiti coating to be applied by the artist. All approved.
b. Information Item: South Street Underpass project unveiling. This was discussed
earlier with the artist Greg Fields present. Kim & Mark will work to find an appropriate
date for the unveiling.
c. Information Item: Robert Romero Sculpture unveiling. Kate and Debbie set up the
unveiling for "SKY" on Saturday, November 6th at 1:00 pm at Community Park. Local
musician Cody Qualls (of Face Vocal Band) will sing two songs. He has his own battery
operated sound and background music setup.
d. Information Item: 2020 ARTirondack Chair update. Mark found a home for the two
ARTirondack chairs (the winners did not pick up) on the north side of the Louisville
History Museum on Main Street. Museum director Bridget Bacon was thrilled to have
them, especially after Mark cleaned them up.
e. Discussion Item: Funding painting concrete barriers downtown on Main Street for the
restaurant patios. This project never happened and the $300 for paint was never spent.
Some concrete barriers will remain in front of several restaurants. Other departments
may cover the cost of the paint in the future. We tabled this indefinetely. Also, the
Library is sponsoring a Take Home and Paint Along project and allotted $500 for youth
and $500 for adult supplies.
XI. Arts Grants. Leah brought up a couple of points: the LCC should follow up on the projects
next year, and that we could have a designated LCC Arts Grants person to oversee them. This
will be on the January agenda. The November agenda will include the Art Grant process,
creating any changes in the scoring, how to review the applications as we continue to get more
of them, and discussion around clear language of LCC's role in the Art Grant process including
marketing.
a. Information Item: 2019-2021 Arts Grants Recipient Updates. Erica said she does not
have complete records of the past three years of which projects were completed, which
were cancelled completely, and which were partially done or changed. Dona Laurita will
present her project on Saturday October 30th from 5-8:00 pm at the Art Center. The
Wanda and the Wave art grant was cancelled. Brice Young's $500 grant returned a
$375 project and Erica is looking into this discrepancy. Mark stated that we should be
more cognitive about future public art projects, whether funded by the Art Grants or our
Public Art budget. Discussion occurred around placing a QR code plaque near the
McCaslin underpass ceramic mural "Under the Mesa". This code would point to
information about the species depicted in the murals, coordinated by the city botanist
and the two artists, and currently existing on the city website under Public Art. Erica
talked to both Meredyth and Megan Pierce about this signage, and they think it is part of
the current Wayfinding project, and should be uniform across the city, and until the
entirety of public artwork has similar information about it on the city website, that the QR
