ADOPTION OF THE 2009 INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODES <br /> <br />OBJECTIVE: <br />To present an ordinance to the City Council for adoption of the complete set of 2009 <br />International Code Council Codes by late summer or early fall. <br /> <br />SUMMARY: <br />The specific codes to be adopted are: <br />2009 International Building Code <br />2009 International Residential Code <br />2009 International Fire Code <br />2009 International Energy Conservation Code <br />2009 International Plumbing Code <br />2009 International Mechanical Code <br />2009 Fuel Gas Code <br />2008 National Electrical Code <br /> <br />With the adoption of these codes the City of Louisville will be on the leading edge of this code <br />adoption cycle. This will keep us current with the latest national standards and the most current <br />technology. Adoption of the 2009 Energy Conservation Code will improve energy efficiency by <br />32% over the 2003 code which we currently are enforcing. <br /> <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The purchase of books was approved with a budget modification for 2009 and the staff training <br />was already included in the 2009 budget.
