The reason for the relatively large size of this house is not known. P. a. 1. <br />In 1961, ownership of the 301 Spruce was conveyed out of the Thompson family. Arthur <br />passed away in 1971 and Mattie passed away in 1991. <br />Stephen & Mary Shuster Ownership, 1961-1965 <br />In 1961, Mattie Thompson sold 301 Spruce to Stephen Shuster (1926-2004) and Mary <br />Shuster (1927-1988). He was a World War II veteran. They came to Louisvlle in 1960 so <br />that Stephen Shuster could be the new Superintendent of the Louisville School District. <br />In 1961, following a reorganization when the Louisville School District became part of <br />4 <br />
