the Boulder Valley School District, Shuster was approved to be Principal of the Louisville
Schools, for which he had very similar responsibilities. In 1962, his responsibilities
shifted to be principal of the junior high and high school and another district employee
became principal of the elementary school. In 1965, Stephen and Mary Shuster sold 301
Spruce and they moved away from Louisville. According to the Louisville Times, he had
resigned his job to become Superintendent of the Kremmling Consolidated School
District.
Lemoine & Clyda Bammer Ownership, 1965-1969
In 1965, Lemoine Bammer (1930-1986) and Clyda Davis Bammer (1930-2000) purchased
301 Spruce and lived there with their three teenage sons. They sold it in 1969.
Charles & Evelyn Grosso Ownership, 1969-1978, and Later Owners
In 1969, Charles Grosso (1931-2013) and Evelyn Grosso (born 1935) purchased 301
Spruce. A few years earlier, Charles and Evelyn Grosso had purchased the Primrose Cafe
at 740 Front St. in Louisville. It was during their ownership that the name was changed
to the Old Louisville Inn (and it is now known by the name 740 Front). In 1977, Grosso
and a business partner purchased 1006 Pine, which was then the location of the Track
Inn and is now known as Casa Alegre. Grosso was also one of the partners operating
Waldo's at 935 Pine, which was also known as the White Front Inn and is now known as
Henry's.
Later owners of this property were William and Bernice Keane (ownership from 1978 to
1982), and James and Cynthia Cederberg (ownership from 1982 to 1986).
Henry Wollum & Donna Erk Ownership, 1986-2010
In 1986, Henry Wollum and Donna Erk purchased 301 Spruce. Before they sold it in
2010, Donna Erk and her family gave information to the Louisville Historical Museum
about the state of the house when they had purchased it and what changes they made
to it. While additional changes may have been made since 2010, the information from
these previous owners captures the characteristics of the house when they purchased it
in 1986.
They stated that the interior had a lot of the original woodwork that they kept, including
the original wood banister by the stairs and a wooden room partition with intricate
woodwork.
The Wollum/Erk family indicated that the first floor rooms had the original "sugar pine"
floors in 2010, except for the dining room, which has a newer floor. Henry Wollum
stated that all of the downstairs rooms had "parlor" coal stoves in them when they
5
