Historic Preservation Commission
Meeting Minutes
18 October 2021
Bauer shared the work plan items related to the Commission. The only item that would be
included in the City Council work plan for 2022 from the Commission would be the Old Town
Overlay Zone District update.
Dunlap asked if updates to grant amounts had been discussed already.
Bauer replied that they would technically be carry-over items for 2022 for the Commission. She
added that the conservation easement study was going to be part of the Old Town Overlay
study it was part of that review.
Haley stated that the Overlay was where they wanted to spend most of their time with Council.
General consensus that the proposed work plan was good.
Ritchie stated that design guidelines for preservation could be peeled off from the Overlay
zoning regulations, if appropriate.
Dunlap stated that if you define design guidelines too much you would offend people but if we
allowed more Frank Lloyd Wright -style homes, people would not be enamored with the historic
character of the neighborhood.
Ritchie added that the Commission would see another presentation on the Overlay. She asked
the commissioners to email staff with additional thoughts.
Discussion on sharing sections of minutes among commissions so that the various commissions
could learn more about what each other do.
UPDATES FROM COMMISSION MEMBERS
None.
ADJOURN
Dunlap motioned to adjourn and Burg seconded. Motion passed unanimously by voice vote.
Meeting adjourned at 9:30 PM.
Andrea Klemme, Vice Chair
Lynda Haley, Chair
8
