City Council
Meeting Minutes
August 31, 2021
Mayor Pro Tern Maloney stated he likes the condition as written so there is practical back
up capability on the site. Councilmember Lipton stated not having a practical back up will
limit the types of uses on this property. Councilmember Fahey agreed.
Councilmember Brown stated he could not support this condition as he feels it is a step
backward.
Mayor Stolzmann stated she supports removing natural gas from the site. If that means
there cannot be industrial uses on the site than we should change the uses on the site.
Mayor Pro Tern Maloney stated a reliable back up power source is not just needed for
industrial uses, it can be needed for heavy computer use and biomedical uses. He wants
to make sure this is a location that will invite the type of employers and industries we want
in the community.
Councilmember Leh stated he would like to find language that would allow natural gas
only in very limited ways on the site.
Councilmember Brown stated that build out is not for 20 years and he would prefer to look
forward knowing there will be alternatives to natural gas by the build out.
Councilmember Lipton stated that at this time there are no good solutions and for now we
need to attract companies that will build here. He supports the language as proposed.
The consensus of the majority was to keep the proposed condition as written.
Condition #7 The applicant will be required to raise its commitment for rooftop or ground
mounted solar generated electricity from the originally proposed 2MW of power to a
minimum of 3MW and that solar power be installed in proportion to the square footage of
the overall project buildout.
The consensus was to accept the condition as written.
Condition #8 The applicant shall make all parking lots and structured parking EV-ready
and provide Level 2 charging stations for 3% of all parking spaces. The applicant shall
