City Council
Meeting Minutes
August 31, 2021
Broomfield. She feels there is no need for additional developed space as there is room in
CTC and Centennial Valley. She encouraged Council to make better use of the existing
buildings and transportation network in town before approving this.
Scott (no last name given), stated he supports the application for its steps towards
sustainability. The applicant has gone above and beyond the requirements and will be
one of the most sustainability developments in town.
Allison Torbik, stated she supports the application. This is not undeveloped land, and it
needs to be used for the betterment of the community. This application has offered more
open space than is required and has made a commitment to sustainability. We need jobs
locally to keep people from driving to Denver to work. She urged approval.
Jan Prokop, 637 West Street, stated she doesn't support additional square footage over
the already allowed 2.5M. She encouraged requiring everything north of Disc Drive to be
open space, and she feels the environmental impact is too big. She urged a no vote.
Cindy Bedell, 662 West Willow Street, urged the Council to consider the overall need for
open space and trails; additional open space and trails would benefit the entire
community. She stated the municipal code allows for a larger dedication and urged
requiring everything north of Disc Drive as open space and keeping the square footage to
2.5M.
Bryan Boonstra, 9555 Paradise Lane, urged a yes vote stating this proposal does a good
job of balancing economic development and the need to protect open space. The
connection of Campus Drive with 96t" street is much needed.
Audrey Debarros, 839 West Mulberry Street, urged approval of the project. The GDP is
consistent with the Comp Plan and the multimodal and transportation improvements
would help build local and regional connections. The applicant has gone above and
beyond with the sustainability requirements. She stated the City needs to be open to
business and this application is a benefit to the community.
Matt Jones, 265 Dahlia Drive, asked the Council to listen to the environmentalists in town,
to require 30% open space, to save the pond, and to fully electrify the site. He urged
keeping the site to 2.5M square feet.
Tamar Krantz, 691 West Street, stated the statute and municipal code allow the Council
to require a larger open space dedication and urged Council to do that for the health and
safety of the community. She urged saving all land north of Disc Drive and urged a no
vote.
Jennifer Singer -Rupp, 466 Muirfield Circle, stated a single user campus is preferable to
this application. She stated this property will compete with existing vacant space and is
not in the best interest of the community. She urged a no vote.
