LCity�f <br />r Louisville <br />PARKS, RECREATION & OPEN SPACE <br />Memorandum <br />To: Open Space Advisory Board <br />From: Open Space Division <br />Date: February 9, 2022 <br />Re: Information Item 5: Staff Updates <br />General: <br />1. Hiring: <br />a. In February, the City will begin the recruitment process for the Director of Parks, <br />Recreation, and Open Space position. Currently, Ember Brignull, Open Space <br />Superintendent is working as Acting Deputy Director of Parks and Open Space and <br />Kathy Martin, Recreation & Senior Center Superintendent is working as Acting <br />Deputy Director of Recreation and Golf. <br />b. Open Space & Parks Administrative Assistant interviews are underway. <br />c. Ranger Naturalist Position and seasonal staff vacancies will be announced in <br />February. <br />2. Open Space Advisory Board Tiger Team discussions including Wayfinding, Website <br />Updates to the OSAB page, and Social Trails are currently on hold as work related to the <br />Marshall Fire is currently the Department priority. <br />Trails & Maintenance: <br />1. The Davidson Mesa Trail Resurfacing Project has been approved to proceed as soon as <br />weather permits. <br />2. Staff is coordinating with Parks to develop a Request For Proposals for repair and <br />rebuilding of fire damaged fencing. <br />Natural Resources: <br />1. Staff is developing a plan for restoration and mitigation needs on Open Space properties <br />impacted by the Marshall Fire. Staff has reached out to other municipalities affected by <br />the fire to discuss their recommendations regarding reseeding needs and controlling <br />blowing soil from bare -ground areas. <br />2. Staff is in communication with multiple university research groups creating a <br />comprehensive long-term monitoring scheme of Coal Creek's water quality and biological <br />communities. <br />13 <br />
