A great horned owl pair has been visiting one of the nest camera locations but no sign of <br />incubation has been observed yet. <br />Resource Protection: <br />1. Ranger McCormick left the City of Louisville to pursue commissioned ranger work. Staff <br />wish him well. <br />2. The hiring process for the new ranger is scheduled to begin in February. Staff will leverage <br />membership in the Rocky Mountain Ranger association to recruit qualified candidates. <br />3. The remaining ranger has shifted his efforts from enforcement to assisting other staff with <br />fire recovery work. When enforcement is conducted, the ranger has switched to verbal <br />warnings for first-time offenders for the short term while the community recovers from <br />the shock of the fire. <br />Education/Volunteer: <br />1. Staff has updated 2022 education programing to better meet the needs of the community <br />following the Marshall Fire and to ensure COVID safety practices are in place. <br />2. Staff will be meeting with other departments to discuss impacts to educational <br />programming with regards to the Marshall Fire and potential collaborations. <br />3. The education schedule for 2022 will be presented to OSAB in March. <br />4. Staff is considering fire -related volunteer projects on Open Space and is awaiting guidance <br />from the City Manager's Office regarding safety protocols for volunteers. <br />14 <br />
