<br />9/20/83 <br /> <br />Page -15- <br /> <br />with the County and did not think it would <br />work to have 85 councilmembers sitting in <br />the same room with the County Commissioners <br />trying to discuss this. <br />Rupp agreed, but stated that there are also <br />other kinds of aspects that effect the cities <br />that the counties can make decisions on <br />relative to the types of services that they <br />might be indicating that they may provide <br />or do that may effect the City of Longmont, <br />and if the City of Longmont opposes such <br />an idea, the County may for example be looking <br />to put it in Louisville or Lafayette. This <br />would be the type thing that is of concern <br />among all the cities. <br />Leary wanted to be assured that the City would <br />not take a position until this is discussed <br />with council. Rupp advised that he never did <br />say the City would take a position. <br /> <br />Councilman Ferrera <br />Identification of new <br />School Children <br /> <br />Inquired if the City is going to continue <br />the identification of the school children, <br />the new ones into the system this year. <br />Also, could the City make an offer to the <br />schools to have someone talk with them about <br />safety when walking home from schools, staying <br />away from automobiles, etc. <br />Director Leesman stated this would be done. <br /> <br />Proposed a Resolution - <br />Name the New Elementary <br />School Joe C. Carnival <br /> <br />Councilman Ferrera moved, Councilman Cummings <br />seconded that City Council propose a Resolu- <br />tion to the RE-2 School District and School <br />Board that the new Elementary School in Louis- <br />ville be named the Joe Carnival Elemetary School. <br /> <br />Councilman Cussen <br /> <br />Commented that he would be supportive; however <br />often there is a citizen's committee represent- <br />ing an area like Louisville, questioned if <br />council wished to exclusively limit it to that. <br /> <br />Vote on the Motion <br /> <br />Question called for. All in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br /> <br />ACCEPTANCE OF COUNCIL COMMENTS Councilman Fauson moved, Councilman Cummings <br />seconded that the Council Comments be accepted <br />and placed on file. Question called for. All <br />in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT Councilman Fauson moved, Councilman Cummings <br />seconded that the meeting be adjourned. <br />Question called for. All in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned at <br />9:30 P.M. <br />
