AUDIENCE COMMENTS Tom Thompson, Representative of LDC M'lyor Meier CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT ORDINANCE #765 - SICK PAY - SOCIAL SECURITY ADOPTION 7/6/82 Page -3- Tom Thompson, representative of the LDC wished to thank Council for the foresight in taking a look at the underground improve- ments of utilities in the Central Business District. (Each councilmember had a copy of the letter submitted by LDC). Thompson stated the LDC appreciated the support and provided direction - he was present to answer any questions regarding the letter submitted to the budget committee. He further commented the letter was submitted solely as a suggestion to Council. It was LDC's contention to start from the foun- dation, such as the underground utilities and then will pursue getting a lot of im- provements on the surface. The LDC was not by any means trying to dictate policy, simply to encourage Council to review their request in a priority fashion. He felt it would be a real catalyst to stimulate some activity. Requested clarification of the request about the upcoming funds from Jacobs/Kahan going to the LDC, was the LDC going to give these funds to the City to install the underground utilities, or ~vhether LDC wished these funds to be used as partially funding the water line; or whether LDC wished the City to use their share? Thompson replied primarily with the funds that the LDC presently has will be used else- where. It is not their intention to improve the underground utilities, as they felt it was an obvious city benefit. Attorney Rautenstraus read the ordinance by title only on second reading and certi- fied proper publication. Councilman Cussen moved, Councilman Cummings seconded that Ordinance #765 - Sick Pay - Social Security be adopted. Roll call vote: Meier Yes Fauson Yes Leary Yes Cussen Yes Morris Yes Cummings Yes Ferrera Yes Motion carried unanimously.
