City Council <br />Meeting Minutes <br />February 15, 2022 <br />Page 3 of 13 <br />COUNCIL INFORMATIONAL COMMENTS ON PERTINENT ITEMS NOT ON THE <br />AGENDA <br />Mayor Stolzmann shared that Commerce City has made a contribution to the Marshall <br />Fire Fund. She also read a letter from President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden. <br />Councilmember Leh stated the City will continue to hold the administration and Congress <br />to keep their promise of financial help. He asked people continue to send comments <br />about issues related to the building code so Council can better understand the issues. <br />CITY MANAGER'S REPORT <br />City Manager Durbin stated community recovery meetings are ongoing in all the <br />neighborhoods. He asked property owners to reach out to the call center if they have not <br />received an invitation to meetings. About 16 demolition permits have been issued. Staff is <br />hoping to have more info on the debris removal program in about a week. <br />REGULAR BUSINESS <br />UPDATE FROM CONGRESSMAN JOE NEGUSE <br />Colorado Congressman Joe Neguse gave an update on the Federal Government <br />response to the Marshall Fire. <br />Councilmember Brown asked Congressman Neguse to advocate at the federal level for <br />homeowners facing the issue of underinsurance. <br />Councilmember Fahey stated this disaster is another reason for the federal government <br />to make the country more resilient and climate resilient. <br />Public Comments — None. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 1824, SERIES 2022 — AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE <br />ADDRESSING ZONING REGULATIONS AFFECTING STRUCTURES DAMAGED OR <br />DESTROYED BY THE MARSHALL FIRE AND AUTHORIZING THE ZONING <br />ADMINISTRATOR TO RECONCILE DISCREPANCIES TO FACILITATE REBUILDING <br />OF THE SAME —1ST AND FINAL READING — PUBLIC HEARING — Adoption as an <br />Emergency Ordinance <br />Mayor Stolzmann stated Council is doing this action by emergency ordinance to move <br />things along more quickly. <br />Planning and Building Safety Director Zuccaro stated this ordinance does not change any <br />zoning or set new zoning, it merely sets a process.
