PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE NOT
APPEARING ON THE AGENDA
MARK KAHAN

DEAN TONY BECK
~ESIDENT, JACOBS/KAHAN CO.

Councilman Fauson

6/16/81

Page - 2 -

Mr. Joe French, Attorney representing
Jacobs/Kahan Company introduced Mr.
Mark Kahan and Dean Tony Beck.
Mark Kahan advised council he was in attend-
ance to inform them how the Centennial
Valley Mall project would progress and that
the company had been restructured with new
personnel with expertise in this field.
The opening date of the Hall is set for
September 20, 1983 and advised that a bar
graph schedule had been developed ~ that
department stores usually build from 15
to 17 months; also that they start back from
Sept. 20, 1983 for construction. This
is done for financial protection by not
having to pay high interest rates.
Money has been escrowed for the utility
lines being installed. The architects
are working on the plans and a conserva-
tive schedule has been established. He
reassured council their company would build
the Mall - opening date Sept. 20, 1983.
Informed Council he had been with the company
just 60 days but before he left Carter,
Hawley, Hale Real Estate Co. he investigated
the Jacobs/Kahan Co. thoroughly and was
convinced the Company has unlimited potential.
He stated he had gone over the schedule,
which was presented to council, to verify
its credibility, and he was thoroughly con-
vinced it could be, and would be met.
He advised along with the real estate aspect,
it was his responsibility to plan and con-
struct the department stores, and he was
very familiar with scheduling. When a
Broadway or Neiman-Marcus store was built
it usually took 14 months and 90 clays to fixture
and stock it - 60 days to fixture and 30 days
to stock. He then presented the schedule
to Mayor and Council members and stated he
would be happy to answer any of their quest-
ions.
Inquired of Mr. Beck if the possibility of
a strike of the construction workers or
shortage of materials had been taken into
consideration in the 14-18 months time frame.
Mark Kahan advised that engineering and weather
conditions had been but not unforseen delays
such as he mentioned.
