Senior Advisory Board <br />Meeting Minutes <br />1/20/09 <br />Page2of4 <br />board's money came from many sources (such as fundraising and donations) <br />before the Senior Foundation (now responsible for fundraising) came into being. <br />Funds raised in the Silent Auction go through the Foundation. Claudine added <br />that one of the visions of the Senior Advisory Board is that the Board exists to <br />advise, not raise money. Rosalie moved and Larry seconded that Walt prepare a <br />12/31/08 Treasurer's Report showing budgeted vs. actual expenditures for 2008. <br />The motion was carried. <br />A. 2009 Budget recommendation <br />Walt will re- prepare the 2009 budget proposal for the next meeting. Rosalie <br />suggested that he add an item "Extraordinary Expenditures One of these in <br />2008 was $2100 for volunteer appreciation gift cards. <br />B. Bulletin Board and Senior Choir approved funds update <br />An amount of $540 was approved for choir vests at the last meeting. It was <br />requested that Walt include the full amount in his corrected budget proposal. <br />Staff Reports Claudine Low <br />The Quarterly Update and the Good Neighbors report are part of the packet. <br />Claudine noted that meal site numbers are up. Claudine handed out new 2009 <br />notebooks and tabs. Larry moved and. Mike seconded to include in the budget <br />proposal $150 extra for office supplies to cover this cost. The motion was <br />carried. <br />City Manager Malcolm Fleming has requested that all boards contribute to a <br />study session. Senior Advisory Board is scheduled on July 14, 2009 and are to <br />present what they are doing, including a work plan and objectives for the year. <br />Focus Groups <br />A. Housing —Bob Pierce <br />Walt attended a meeting on the County housing plan. Lafayette is <br />planning new facilities. The Housing Focus Group will be on the agenda at the <br />Louisville Housing Authority meeting on January 27. The meeting objective is <br />affordable housing. Walt noted that there is more subsidized housing in <br />Louisville than elsewhere in the county. The update to the Louisville <br />Comprehensive Plan was basically adopted on January 6. They are still trying to <br />decide how often it should be reviewed. <br />Bob and Walt talked to Paul Wood about the Baptist property on S. Boulder <br />Road, next to Cottonwood Park. Three different plans have been rejected by the <br />City. Paul spoke to the contractor and proposed senior housing for the area, 3 <br />stories with elevators. This idea is in discussion. Walt commented that this <br />result is an excellent example of the Housing Focus group's persistence and <br />pointed out that senior housing is needed for all economic levels and not just for <br />assisted living. He stated that Paul Wood is passing on the group's message <br />and that a city ordinance for senior housing is being talked about. <br />
