Senior Advisory Board Meeting Minutes 1/20/09 Page 3 of 4 B. Social and Civic Engagement 1. Programs —Carol Purfurst Carol presented in Linda's absence. The group is functioning well, keeping well ahead with program suggestions. Claudine has suggested to Katie Beasley that the group meet once a quarter instead of bimonthly. 2. Sunshine Barbara Wilson. No report as Barbara is no longer on the board. 3. Intergenerational Claire Floyd Janine Fitzgerald, who is on the Fireside Improvement Committee, has asked for a list of volunteers. These currently are: Sheila Newton, Carol Purfurst, Barbara Wilson and Claire. C. Physical and Mental Health —Carol Purfurst. The bulletin board is up and there have been several favorable comments. The next focus group meeting is February 10. The group is trying for meetings once a quarter and has checked April for the next one. The city gardener will attend the February 10 meeting as group member Richard Cohen is interested in getting a garden club started. A few people have attended the wii groups in the Paramount Room on Fridays at 1 pm. (Bob Pierce noted a scheduling conflict as his class on making your will is set to meet in that room on February 1 from 1 -5.) The Tuesday afternoon casual dancing is going well. Katie found a square dance caller who agreed to call at one session, which was well attended. Katie has arranged for him to teach a square dancing class this spring. Claudine mentioned that on April 23, during Turn off the TV week, there will be a square dancing session in place of the usual moonlight supper. Unfinished Business A. Installation of New Board. New Board members Larry Brassem and Rosalie Lynn were welcomed to the Board. Barbara Peterson was absent. B. Terms Larry, Rosalie and Mike will serve the three -year and Barbara the two -year term. C. Election of Officers Bob moved and Larry seconded that Connie continue as Chair. The motion was carried. Bob moved and Larry seconded that Carol continue as Vice Chair. The motion was carried. Bob moved and Walt seconded that Claire and Larry be co- Secretaries. The motion was carried. Bob moved that Walt continue as Treasurer. Carol moved and Larry seconded that Rosalie be the Treasurer. Members present voted. Majority voted that Rosalie was elected to the position.
