Senior Advisory Board
Meeting Minutes
3/17/09
discussed. Some attendees from Balfour were unimpressed. Barbara Martig
talked about what was happening and what AAC hopes to get accomplished.
The meeting minutes are not yet out, so Barbara will give further details at our
May meeting.
City Council Report—Dave Clabots. At the last City Council meeting, parking
guidelines were approved. The Council are working with RTD and funding is
going to be an issue. More sales tax is needed to complete the NW corridor. On
the subject of light rail, there was considerable debate re: flexibility
underpasses etc. Given the condition of the US economy, no big housing
developments are happening. The Council completed their update to the
Comprehensive Plan in January and are keeping it open for senior housing. The
sales tax receipts are okay but we're being cautious. Bonnie Starr (from
Lafayette) is the new Director of Development for Louisville. The Council has
submitted paperwork to try to get an underpass, there are plans to get it
designed. It would cost $1.6 million. Dave will be helping to serve the senior
lunch on Thursday, Jan 22.
Treasurer's Report Rosalie Lynn.
A. Proposed Budget for 2009. This was discussed line by line. Claudine
noted that the Touch a Truck event will be on June 6, 9am to noon. Volunteers
will be needed for the senior bake sale. Connie will call Helen McDonald. The
bake sale will be on the agenda at the May meeting.
Walt moved that the Touch a Truck bake sale be continued. Barbara P
seconded and the motion was carried.
Rosalie suggested that the Board ask the Senior Foundation to release $500
from the Silent Auction receipts as the Board's contribution to Community Food
Share. Carol so moved, Claire seconded and the motion was carried.
It was agreed that proposed expenses for the Labor Day Parade be left at $150
and that the amount for office supplies had already been spent (on 2009 folders);
that the amount for Miscellaneous would be $450, the same as last year. Mike
moved that proposed expenses for the Senior Games be included under
Extraordinary Expenditures. Carol seconded and the motion was carried. It was
discussed whether the amount allotted for Volunteer Appreciation should be
$2100, as it was last year. Larry moved that the appreciation should be part of a
moonlight supper and the proposed expenditure be $1000. Rosalie seconded
the motion, which was carried.
B. Treasurer's Report for Jan -Feb 2009. Rosalie requested an itemized
invoice for the office supplies (notebooks). The choir vests (under Special
Projects) have been paid for. Rosalie showed the Board the selected materials
and read a letter of thanks from choir member Beverley Clynke. Rosalie
