Re: an audit of the 2008 <br />accounts, Rosalie reminded that the bylaws require a three member audit <br />committee. Walt said that last year Ed Gill and Jim Newton had done it. Walt <br />and Connie will pick two. Walt suggested Jim Newton and Helen McDonald. <br />Staff Reports Claudine Low <br />The Staff Reports are part of the package handed out at the beginning of each <br />board meeting. Highlights are: lots of new visitors, many of them for Silver <br />Sneakers, who are adding two more health insurers, Blue Cross /Blue Shield and <br />Colterra. We are getting 15 new members a month. If you're Medicare eligible <br />and with one of these programs, they will pay for your Recreation Center <br />membership. During Jan and Feb, we paid 60 utility bills of $175 each. We're <br />getting ready to put out the summer catalog. For the last year, we've been <br />talking about increasing outreach to baby boomers, 59 and under. A new group <br />will be called Momentum, standing for full -time work and full -time play. Katie has <br />two program ideas: book and dinner; and a social tennis group. There will ,be <br />100% cost recovery. <br />Receipts from the Silent Auction cover activity scholarships, two lifelines, other <br />emergencies such as eyeglasses and hearing aids, rent, heat, water shutoff. We <br />would like to allow people to apply more times for scholarships. <br />Larry moved and Bob seconded that residents be allowed to apply four times a <br />year. The motion passed. <br />Create our Future Claudine reported that the .staff are working toward <br />refocusing purposes for the Advisory Board and the Foundation. Foundation <br />meetings often have no quorum. The Foundation needs a new direction and <br />fresh vision. The group is made up entirely of volunteers. No -one is appointed <br />or elected. Walt gave a brief history of the Foundation. Several of the early <br />members had been on the Senior Advisory Board: Otis Angell did a lot of the <br />legal work for them. They reached a point where they didn't agree on projects. <br />Connie suggested the Foundation become a subcommittee of the Advisory <br />Board and the board to figure out how to pick the people. Connie asked to table <br />discussion until the May meeting. Mike. Goss moved the advisory board and staff <br />get together to work out a solution. <br />Claudine —Laura Matthews will come and administer our "Create our Future" <br />grants. Claudine has asked Katie, Selena and Dana for ideas. Bob Pierce <br />mentioned that his class on making your will is very popular and that it includes <br />how to avoid probate, prepare for death and more. Boulder County Legal <br />Services has moved to our community. Pro bono lawyers could assist with this <br />course. Claudine and Bob will talk about whether Bob could apply for a grant. <br />
