- Correction for section XI-F: Erica - There are a few non -profits (Superior Rising,
Louisville Rising, Marshall Rec) inquiring and working on a piece of public art for the dog
park in community park. Louisville Rising plans to pay for for 2 pieces of public art for
this, They don't have sketches or plans yet but they do have funding from things like
street fairs, ets. They are also thinking of a mural.
- Mark repeats that the reason for going through the last months meeting minutes for
public clarity and ability to look back with correctness.
- Mark asks for the Louisville fire link online for a map. Mark notes that one is a Geo
mapping one. Erica notes that in order to see the map you must answer all the questions
prompted on the screen prior. The public art subcommittee said that they want it to label
the art pieces in downtown on this map if possible. Mark asks the number of sites that
we currently have and Erica says that we don't know.
- Jury: Mark asks if we have a jury yet for the public arts subcommittee and that they have
not been paid yet.
- Leah moves to approve these last months min, Mark seconds.
VI. Chair's Report (Leah Franks) 10 min
a. 2023-2024 Budget
- Leah updates us about what has happened since last month's meeting.
Multicultural events and things are being planned through the library and it seems like
they have their own budget and functioning.
- In respect to this note Leah notes that feels that the LCC is being treated as a
separate community group. She thinks that we should be more included and involved/
knowledgeable of what is going on with the Library and its events. She is looking for
more collaboration. Despite that, Leah feels that we have made this year successful.
Leah mentions that she will not be on the board next year and that she is here to help.
- Budget: Leah sent a note to the City Board members about how the whole LCC
budget process went. She expressed to them that it has not been easy but frustrating.
She adds that budget conversation was started way back in March/ April. She mentioned
that she should have connected with Erica and Grace prior to see what the budget might
be needing prior to connecting with the Board. She recommends for 2024 to think about
what expenses and budget will be needed before requesting and suggesting that year's
budget. She encourages starting early.
- JR mentioned that he felt that the fire may have overtaken the enthusiasm to
fund the LCC. Mark says that he has met with individual member Meghan Davis (Dep.
City Manager); he said that she feels that she thinks that the events are more for cold
bodies. This comment disappointed him. He met with the Director of Library Services as
well about the budget discussion. He has also mentioned to Sharron that the LCC is
barely visible in the Library's budget and that a portion of ticket sales go back into the
general fund. He mentions that Sharron has the power to take this information to go and
ask for additional funding for the LCC based on this information provided.
- Beth asks for clarifications about our operations of the LCC are (in terms of it in
writing formally) and what the specific details are in reference to the LCC being labeled
as an "advisory board." She asks about the expectations of the LCC as it is logged by
