Parks & Public Landscaping Advisory Board
Minutes
DATE
Recreation Center bowl area to the south of the Rec, used for cycling off road
now, but the bowl morphology is good for community buffer, no new parking or
restrooms needed.
Harney Lastoka area, north of the ball fields, is not used by 7t" Generation Farm,
BoCo property, community access already available.
Innovation Drive and 7-11 property, narrow triangle of land owned by city, both
sides of 95t" St., no amenities now, needs parking.
Last mentioned property is Dillon rd., west of 96th, the old XCEL site, there is a
small pond on the property. Area is not in use, may have contamination
issues??
Abby noted map prepared by Patricia and Susan has all of these locations. This
is what are we needing from staff or PPLAB/OSAB for 2024 master plan
discussion. Next steps, are to target options, come up with consensus with
PPLAB and OSAB. Good job formalizing criteria, planning for fiscal 2024.
Laurie suggested Tiger Team and PPLAB revisit in April or May/June(?).
Possibly collect additional data on usage.
Joint PPLAB/Recreation Advisory Board
Rec Advisory Board is looking for additional Soccer field and Pickle Ball court
locations. Current areas of interest are land around Police Station adjacent to
Arboretum, and possibly near Harney Lastoka property?
Bee City USA update
John contacted Louisville Chamber of Commerce (CC), spoke with Eric Lund,
who offered options for a Bee City USA booth at Taste of Louisville (June 3rd)
and Business and Health Care Showcase (Aug/Nov). Nonprofit rate for booth
(sending info). Also offered a nonprofit rate for CC Membership ($195, annual),
offering a social media presence, weekly newsletter, "meet the new member"
feature, periodic luncheons w/ community business, political, and safety folks,
cost of $20. Bee City USA could also be mentioned on CC website as member,
maybe post Bee City USA information as well. Eric Lund also mentioned
Backyard Garden Habitat support program from US Government (USDA?). Bee
City USA committee could apply for grants, register backyard habitats, Eric will
dig out details.
Possible outreach to schools? Patricia reported contacts with Louisville
Elementary, Coal Creek Elementary, and Fireside Elementary Schools, Louisville
Elementary not much interest, but Coal Creek and Fireside are interested in
working with Bee City programs.
Re: Bee City Application: John reported that Laura Rost at Bee City USA office
needs list of Bee City Committee members with title and contact information
(email). John has the list together, will send out notice to Louisville Bee City USA
committee members for approval tomorrow, forwarding to Laura Rost at Bee City
USA early next week.
