In 1943, Frank Fabrizio resigned from his position as principal of Louisville High School,
and it was at that point that the Fabrizios sold 1033 Jefferson and moved to the Denver
area.
Newton & Minnie Rockley Ownership, 1943-1947
Newton Rockley (1887-1969) and Minnie Baessler Rockley (1891-1946) bought 1033
Jefferson in 1943. They were both born in other states. They married in Denver in 1912.
At the time when they purchased and moved into 1033 Jefferson, "Newt" worked as a
miner and they had a daughter, Carol, age about 11, living with them. They also had two
adult sons, Lester and Melvin, who lived elsewhere.
Minnie Rockley died in 1946 at the Boulder Sanitarium, and Newt Rockley sold the
house.
Brunner Family Ownership, 1947-1953
In 1947, Albert Brunner (1873-1956) bought 1033 Jefferson. At the time of the 1950
census, he was a widower living in the house with his grandson Billie Lewis, age 27, and
his granddaughter Gloria Lewis, age 28. In 1951, he conveyed ownership of the house to
himself and his granddaughter, Gloria.
The following images are from the 1948 County Assessor card for this property, at the
time of the ownership and residency by Brunner, and show the house in 1948 followed
by the ground layout:
7
20
