SUBJECT: STAFF UPDATES <br />DATE: JULY 31, 2023 PAGE 2 OF 3 <br />Business Openings and Closings <br />None. <br />Dark Sky Lighting <br />An updated draft of the dark sky lighting ordinance was reviewed by Planning <br />Commission on July 13. The Commission did not make a recommendation on the <br />ordinance, continuing it to the next Planning Commission meeting currently scheduled <br />for August 10. <br />Energy Code Update <br />There will be an open house on August 29 from 6 — 8 PM to allow businesses to provide <br />feedback on potential amendments to the energy code. <br />Downtown Vision Plan <br />The City of Louisville received six responses to its Downtown Vision Plan for <br />Streetscapes and Public Places RFP. Staff has reviewed the six responses and <br />scheduled interviews with two of the six consultants. Following the interviews, staff will <br />enter into an agreement for consulting services with one of the consultants. <br />Business Forum <br />Staff is working with the Louisville Chamber of Commerce to begin planning the fall <br />Business Forum. The Chamber will help coordinate with the business community to <br />collect questions for discussion during the forum. <br />EVC Work Plan <br />During its June meeting, the EVC narrowed its 2023 Work Plan down to seven priorities <br />as shown in Attachment #1. The seven priorities are: <br />• Process Improvement Initiatives for Business -Related Services <br />• Semi -Annual Business Forum <br />• Market Gap Analysis <br />• Business Retention Visits <br />• Business Satisfaction Survey <br />• Identify Barriers to Renewable Energy Participation and Possible Solutions <br />• Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Initiatives <br />Staff will continue to update the 2023 Work Plan as needed. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />1. 2023 EVC Work Plan <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMUNICATION <br />Agenda Packet P. 9 <br />
