Recreation Advisory Board
Minutes
July 24, 2023
Staff Updates
Golf Update — David Baril
David Baril shared some information from David Dean. The additional rain
this year has been great for the grass, but he has had to spend more on fuel
to mow the grass. David D. is planning to rebuild some of the bunkers.
When the course was renovated, the bunkers were not properly built.
David Baril reported that golf operations are in full swing, with many
programs, tournaments, and leagues. The range picker engine died on
Wednesday, and employees had to pick up the balls by hand. Another
possibility would be to place something in the Louisville Rec catalog,
although the deadline for fall has already passed.
In response to a question, David reported that the Golf Course has a policy
regarding abusive behavior and endangering other people. A ranger will
check to see what is happening, and paid staff will go out if needed. If a
problem escalates, employees are instructed to take a photo and move
away. Police will be called when needed. Players who misbehave can be
placed on a "no play" list.
City Council Boards and Commissions Update
Kathy reported that nothing will change with the number of Boards and
Commissions, although there will be some name changes. City Council will
try to bring back annual meetings with Boards and Commissions. There was
