Roll call was taken on original motion, Resolution No. 14 as amended. Motion passed by a 4 2a
vote with Sisk and Mayer voting against and Howard being absent.
RESOLUTION NO. 15, SERIES 1997 APPROVING AN AMENDED FINAL PUD
DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE IN KEEPER SELF STORAGE FACILITY LOT 1,
BLOCK 1, THE IN KEEPER SUBDIVISION
Paul Wood, Planning Director, stated that this amendment is for a modification to the approved sign
package for the In Keeper. Phase I of two phases was constructed in 1996. Phase II would add four
more single story buildings and a two -story building at the northwest corner of the site. The original
PUD allowed four signs. The applicant was requesting a new wall sign on the west elevation of the
existing office building to identify the site from County Road until such time as the two -story
building is constructed with its approved wall sign. They have also requested approval of a
changeable copy reader board sign. Planning Commission did not approve the reader board sign.
Planning Commission approved the new wall sign by Commission Resolution No. 7, Series 1997,
on February 11, 1997, with six conditions. The owners' letter of February 28 indicated that they
agree to comply with all of the Planning Commission conditions.
Davidson called for the applicant's presentation.
Larry Lynch, 7923 Grassmere Drive, Boulder, Colorado, pointed out that adequate signage is
important for this type of business as about half of the customers come from drive -by inquiries.
Davidson called for Council comments or questions.
Davidson asked if this request increased the total number of square footage of signage.
Wood stated that it would decrease the total number of square footage.
Davidson wondered why they wanted to light the sign at all, because there is no traffic at all on Lock
Street.
Lathrop moved that Council approve Resolution No. 15, Series 1997, including Planning
Commission conditions, seconded by Keany.
Keany offered a friendly amendment to limit it to no more than one spotlight.
Lathrop and seconder Keany accepted that. All in favor with Howard being absent.
RESOLUTION NO. 16, SERIES 1997 APPROVING A FINAL PUD DEVELOPMENT
PLAN AND SPECIAL REVIEW USE FOR WEDGEWOOD, LTD. LOT 10, BLOCK 4,
THE COLORADO TECH CENTER
7
