The <br />following persons were present - <br />Members Present: Frost Yarnell, Chair <br /> Hank Dalton, Vice Chair <br />Rob Lathrop, LRC <br />Shelley Angell, Chamber <br />Deb Krueger, DBA <br />Michael Menaker, Alternate for LRC <br />Andrew Freeman, CTC <br /> Chris Pritchard, Planning Commission <br /> Members Absent: Ron Sackett, Councilor <br />Staff Present: Bonnie Star, Economic Development Director <br /> Malcolm Fleming, City Manager <br /> Paul Wood, Planning Director <br /> Rhonda Welborn, Executive Assistant <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />PUBLIC COMMENTS NOT ON AGENDA – NONE <br />PRESENTATION – BOULDER INNOVATION CENTER <br />Tim Bour presented information about the Boulder Innovation Center (BIC). The <br />BIC is an Incubator of researchers that develop inventions and patents. One <br />objective is that the patents can be commercialized (licensed to a company). <br />The BIC has over 700 advisors that are matched with companies to assist with <br />business planning and based on the possibilities of success an “angel” <br />investment company. BIC facilitates the process among the involved parties. <br />The current challenge is investing in less risky companies. Approximately 4-5 <br />new companies are started each year.BIC is funded through both private and <br />public organizations.
