BRaD <br />Meeting Minutes <br />October 5, 2009 <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />$5,000 to $15,000. BIC provides long term benefits to the Boulder County <br />communities. <br />DISCUSSION OF ENHANCED FIBER SERVICE AT CTC <br />Andrew Freeman discussed the length of time to get enhanced fiber service. <br />Menaker suggested a possible next step would be to identify companies that will <br />need/want fiber optic service. The City could provide other avenues to create an <br />environment for companies to request Level 3 to enhance fiber optics. Level 3 <br />has reviewed and discussed development plans. A trench exists for fiber optics. <br />CTC Outreach meeting will discuss fiber optics on Wednesday, October 14, <br />2009. Trenches for fiber optics could be planned into the infrastructure, although <br />this option carries a risk of technology changes. <br />RETENTION VISIT REPORTS <br />Medtronic – This Company is adding 8,000 square feet and slowly adding <br />employees. <br />Safe Systems– Main comment was that there is a remarkably positive <br />relationship with City Planning. One problem at CTC of note is snowplowing. <br />Another issue is that the sign code is not working. <br />Audit Logistics – Concern regarding Hwy 42 lane turn arrows and possible safety <br />hazards. Public Works has contacted CDOT to address. Mail is being stolen; <br />lockable boxes are being considered. The desire for another restaurant in the <br />CTC area that will encourage employees to eat in Louisville. <br />Mychelle – This company sells natural cosmetics. The company employs <br />approximately 30 people. There is a concern regarding the lack of a turn lane to <br />drive in to their parking lot. Planning is following up on this concern. Most sales <br />are conducted on line, and the building has room to expand. <br />GlobeImmune – This is a bio-science company that has approximately 50 <br />employees. The company works with immunity drugs. The work requires a high <br />level of security and clean rooms. The company may need 60,000 square foot of <br />space to establish manufacturing. They desire sole tenancy in a building. The <br />company anticipates FDA approval. <br />Lucid Dimensions - This company manufactures threat detection in three <br />dimensions using the Spherical Detection Systems. Their computational process <br />is unique (value added) and results in numerous applications. The company is <br />self-efficient with two partners. <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BRIEFING <br />Bonnie Star provided a monthly overview report. She noticed BRaD of the <br />October 14 meeting inviting property owners to comment on raising the square <br />footage cap on downtown development and proposed parking regulation <br />changes, including a change in the cash-in-lieu amount. Planning department <br />will be presenting the issues for discussion at City Hall, 6:30 pm October 14. <br />Star discussed the Metro Denver Site Selection Conference and provided a <br />hand-out with press commentary on the conference.
