BRaD
Study Session Summary
November 2, 2009
address the impacts on travel time and a point of diminishing returns. A cost per
passenger mile evaluation tool will be utilized to determine if additional lines are
feasible. BRaD questioned the lack of a quiet zone for Dillon Road. RTD is
working under a false premise that CTC is “industrial”. The area includes retail,
apartments, a church, and a future training campus. The most effective way to
include this concern is through comment at the public meetings for inclusion in
the ROD.
Staff indicated that the City will submit formal comments, and can assist the
public in submitting comments on the website. A final concern raised by BRaD
was the affect of the lack of a quiet zone for Takoda resdiienatil development
RTD representatives stated that at this time 73 business and 16 residential
buildings will be relocated, and a maximum of 6 displacements with the
acquirement of 8.72 acres of land. Travel time is expected to be 27-38 minutes.
The final report will be ready in early December. Public Meetings will be held
November 16 – November 19 for comments. The November 18 meeting will be
held at the Louisville Middle School auditorium at 6:30 p.m. Currently there is an
approximate $2,000,000 gap which may need to be addressed through a
sales tax revenue increase. The DIA East Corridor line will be completed in
August 2010. Both the West Corridor and East Corridor to DIA are funded.
RETENTION VISIT REPORTS
Door to Door ORganics – Internet start-up organic fruit and vegetable outlet
looking at expansion for low price in CTC. Also considering Longmont and
Lafayette. Expanding production.
Comfort Inn– Struggling business due to location. Signage the main issue.
Archetype – 3-D modeling company. Staff is down to 3-4 employees. There is
space for 20 people. Currently the company is waiting for the business climate to
improve.
Pearl Izumi – This company sells apparel and shoes, mainly for biking. Currently
the company employs 104 people in Louisville. Would like a liaison with the
police to address safety and criminal activity concerns. Possible distribution of
local restaurant menus and information about local catering companies. This
would benefit the local economy and employees.
