WATER METER REPLACEMENT UNDERWAY I n February The City began removing water meters through out the City and replacing them with automatic meter reading (AMR) equipment. The City contracted with Mountain States Pipeline and Supply (MSPS) to supply the water meters and perform the in- stallation of the equipment. Each residence and business will be contacted by MSPS to '.`,�` ; set up an appointment to have the meters replaced with the new AMR equipment. We appreciate your busy schedule but we will need your prompt cooperation in schedul- ing an appointment. You will 4 need to be home for this up- SOUTH BOULDER ROAD & HIGHWAY 42 INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS T he City's Capital Improvement Project to im- prove the flow of traffic at the intersection of South Boulder Road and State Highway 42 is set to begin. This spring crews from 6,1 i Xcel Energy, Qwest, and Comcast began work to re- locate the utilities that are in 41111P 4 conflict with project plans. This work involves Xcel Energy undergrounding and relocating several overhead electric poles in the vicinity of the intersection. Specifically, the existing overhead electric lines on the east side of Highway 42 adjacent to the Harney - Lastoka Open Space, from the farm access road north to South Boulder Road, will be placed underground along with the overhead electric terminal lines adjacent to Burger King on the north side of South Boulder Road. The overhead electric poles north of the intersection will be relocated in order to make room for the project's road- way and sidewalk improvements. Qwest will also under- ground their overhead lines located between Highway 42 and Fordyce Auto Garage. The work is scheduled to be completed in April. Once the utility work is complete the area will be grade or have an adult 18 or older present to give our installer access to the meter. If you have not yet been contacted to set up an appointment, we encourage you to call MSPS at 1.877.321.3755 and choose the option for the Louisville AMR project. Beginning this sum- mer, the City will construct additional left -turn lanes in each of the four directions. In addition, two new north - south lanes will be added to Highway 42 through the intersection. To make room for these improvements the existing dedicated right -turn lanes from South Boulder Road south onto Highway 42 and from Highway 42 east onto South Boulder Road will become combined through lanes and right -turn lanes. The project also includes the addition of sidewalks on two sides of the intersection, both north of South Boulder Road. On the west side the sidewalk will be continued from South Boulder Road to the existing sidewalk at Cutting Edge Sports. On the east side the sidewalk will be continued from South Boulder Road to the existing sidewalk at the Balfour Community. The City used its own fiends to leverage significant additional funding from the Colorado Department of Transportation to pay for this project.
