PARKS & RECREATION NEWS
OPEN SPACE NOTES
WHAT'S INA NAME?
A fter several weeks of collecting suggestions from
the public, the Open Space Advisory Board has
recommended and City Council has approved Coyote
Run as the new name for Tamarisk Open Space. Tama-
risk is a state listed noxious weed and the Advisory Board
was interested in selecting a new name that would be
more representative of Open Space values.
LOVE IS IN THE AIR
F rom February through June, coyotes through-
out the area will be breeding and raising litters
of pups. During this time, coyotes will be more active
throughout the day in search of food to feed the extra
mouths. This means that coyotes
will be protective of their dens (es-
pecially against large dogs) and may
be tempted to prey upon small dogs
and cats that are unleashed or left
outside without supervision. Please
leash and supervise all pets for
their safety. For more information
on coyotes or to report coyote interactions, please visit
the Open Space Division's page on the City web site at
www.LouisvilleCo.gov.
STAY CONNECTED TO OPEN SPACE
EDUCATION AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
M ake sure you hear about Louisville Open Space
opportunities by signing up for our listserve.
Email your naive to OpenSpace@LouisvilleCO.gov and
include "Sign me up" in the subject line.
Upcoming programs for the Spring tentatively
include: Birds of Boulder County, Intro to Bee Keep-
ing, 2nd Annual Children's Fishing Frenzy, Butterflies,
Pull- 4- Colorado Weed Pull, Weed ID and Senior Hike
at North Open Space.
{ y O € L O
L.
