MEMO Page - 2 -
We took the liberty of submitting this ordinance for your
consideration on first reading because of the time delay.
As you know the previous council wanted to set up the pro-
vision for staggered terms, but we waited too long and under
State Statutes we are required to have passed the ordinance
180 days before the election. As I stated previously the
other council did not have the proper amount of time left,
and should you 'wish to do -this, you would have to read it
on first reading at this council meeting April 21st and on
second reading on May 5th; once again this time we wouldn't
have the proper amount of time. I am not trying to be pre-
sumptious, I'm just trying to get the thing before you in
a proper time frame should council wish to proceed.
We took the wording as it was submitted originally.
B. Ordinance #718 - Updating Titles 1-9 of the Louisville
Municipal Code - 1st reading.
A number of minor changes and modifications have been made
in those titles of the code. The City Attorney, various
staff members and I have been working on them for some time.
The City Attorney has enclosed a memo highlighting and ex-
plaining those changes. This ordinance is scheduled for
first reading by the council.
C. Jenkins Lawsuit - Report
The City Attorney will give a report at the meeting regarding
this
Item 7. City Administrator's Report
Item 8. Council comments and committee reports
Item 9. Approval of the bills.
Item 10. Adjournment
