• • • • • 1/6/83 Page -4- Councilman Cummings Commented if all councilmembers had that concern it should be carried further to be a policy making part of the City; because at this time we do have two builders now on the Planning Commission. Councilman Leary Commented he felt it would have been more appropriate if Mr. Beber had not used American Builders stationery when applying for the vacancy. Mayor Meier Commented he had occasion to work with Mr. Beber at different times in his employment and it was his feeling that he was an ex- tesnely fair and forthright individual; was certain that if an issue involving American Builders would come before the Board he would not become involved from a professional standpoint - would abstain from voting or commenting on any issue that involved his employer. Councilman Cummings Commented that our Code of Ethics policy would require him to abstain on such a vote and could not see a problem. Councilwoman Morris Had a procedural question - if she felt comfortable with voting for just one person would this be permitted; also how would there two people be appointed. Mayor Meier Advised she could vote for only one person is she so desired. A secret ballot will be taken - the two highest votes would be appointed Councilman Leary Commented he felt Michael Schnatzmeyer hod written a very good letter and seems to be more qualified. Also commented, as mentioned by Councilman Cummings at a previous meeting, perhaps the Board of Adjustments and Appeals Board should be reviewed for separating them. Or if they are left as one perhaps council could set a policy that there not be more than 3 members of an occ, pation, to be pertain there is a mixture of people on it. It appeared to him that this Board could be overloaded with building interests than judi- cial interests .
