S !
• ORDINANCE f855
CUTTING OF WEEDS Rautenstraus read Ordinance #855 by title and
recommended that Ordinance #855 be put out for
publication and set date for a Public Hearing.
Cussan moved that Ordinance #855 be put out for
publication and that a Public Hearing be set for
March 5, 1985. Morris seconded.
As $ point of clarification Rautenstraus stated
that this ordinance had no significant changes
from the present "weed ordinance" adopted by the
City of Louisville.
Mayor Meier stated that , as written, Ordinance #855
is unacceptable in that the ability of the City to
cut all areas has not been fully established , and
some areas should be left as "wildlife habitats"
and should not be cut at all.
Although there may be problems in the wording of
the ordinance, it was brought to Council as an
initiative and if Council chose not to accept this
ordinance, it would have to go to a vote of the
people creating an expense to the residents of
Louisville. This is simply the passing of an
ordinance that is the same as an existing
ordinance.
Luce requested that the City Attorney draft a
first reading of this ordinance with changes in
response to some of the comments and concerns of
Mayor and Council for the next Council Meeting.
Luce also asked that "natural grasses" and "weeds"
be correctly defined and designate exact areas to
be cut or left in a natural state. City
Administrator Terry Hundley indicated that a
survey of other communities will be undertaken by
staff to find out how other communities deal with
this issue. The results will then be shared with
Council with discussion then leading to the
drafting of a new ordinance. This process will
likely take several months.
Luce added that noxious weeds and vegetation
should also be clearly defined.
The motion to set the Public Hearing for March 5,
1985 was passed 6-I with Mayor Meier voting no.
BATA LIQUOR LICENSE
FOR NEW BUSINESS Rautenstraus stated that there was proper
notification of the Public Hearing by publication
and the property woe properly posted.
