INFORMATION ONLY - PUBLIC SERVICE FRANCHISE/SALES
TAX REFUND Hundley informed Council that last year, City
Finance Director, Sharon Asti-Caranci, and City
Accountant, Pam Pierce, identified what they felt to
be a possible error in the way Public Service was
calculating franchise and sales tax in the City of
Louisville. A letter was sent to Public Service
requesting a clarification of this issue. Recently
the City received a check for $44,080 from Public
Service relating to these incorrect charges for
franchise and sales taxes. Staff is calculating the
source (e.g., General Fund, Enterprise Fund, etc.)
of these overpayments. In the meantime, the money
has been deposited in the bank to earn interest and
placed in the City's General Fund.
PUBLIC COMMENTS None.
COUNCIL COMMENTS AND COMMITTEE
REPORTS Mohr reported that the W-470 Authority met on two
separate occasions since Mohr last reported. The
Authority has found office space on Highway 72 and
will begin the process of looking for an executive
director - a 90 day process. The State of Colorado
was designated as a beltway state, one of seven in
the country. This was a federal designation and
allows the use of federal funds, possibly up to 3511
of the cost of the highway. DRCOG will be deciding
the exact location of this highway sometime in the
next 60 days.
Mayor Fauson thanked the Council for volunteering
their time this August 15th to paint a Senior
Citizen's home. The Mayor volunteered Council along
with members of the Chamber of Commerce, and thanked
everyone in advance. A home will be selected by
the let of August and a picnic lunch will be
provided.
Sackett, referring to a memo regarding an activity
at the old Pow Wow site, asked if City Code
specifies the time an event of this type can take
place. Staff stated that there is a disturbance
ordinance that deals with the times between midnight
and 6:00 a.m. This event, a truck pull, will end at
11100 p.m.
Anderson stated that over the weekend he was fishing
at Harper Lake and finds it in very good shape. The
sign turned out very nice and there appears to be a
dramatic improvement of the area.
EXECUTIVE SESSION At 8:30 p.m., Mayor Pauson recessed the Council
Meeting to clear the Chambers for an Executive
Session.
8
