Anderson asked if this could be discussed at the <br /> Study Session scheduled for this week to look at <br /> issues a little more in depth. "I certainly <br /> don't want this to be construed as my thought of <br /> denial or approve in any case, but it is important <br /> for us to look into." <br /> Mohr supported Anderson's suggestion to table the <br /> decision until the next Council Meeting with the <br /> opportunity to discuss some of the issues involved <br /> at this week's Study Session. Mohr stated that it <br /> is very important from the safety aspect: and it is <br /> a very sensitive issue in terms of what the real <br /> mission is and the expectations are without changing <br /> the nature of the attitude and approach that have <br /> been successfully developed over the past years. <br /> Anderson moved that this issue be table until <br /> Council's next meeting. Unanimous. <br /> INFORMATION/DISCUSSION - ELIMINATION OF STATE LIQUOR ENFORCEMENT <br /> PROGRAM Hundley stated that late last month, the City was <br /> informed of the complete elimination of the Liquor <br /> Enforcement Division of the Colorado Department of <br /> Revenue. Council received a copy of a letter from <br /> the Director of the Liquor Enforcement Division <br /> regarding this elimination. Inasmuch as no state <br /> assistance can be expected in enforcing local <br /> licensed establishments, Hundley felt it important <br /> to make Council aware of the potential increased <br /> burden on the Louisville Police Department of this <br /> program elimination. <br /> Leesman commented that the initial licensing <br /> probably will not be affected. It would appear that <br /> the area most likely to be affected would be during <br /> the time of an investigation. This is the main area <br /> that the State has had staff cutbacks. <br /> Anderson commented that there is no place to go for <br /> training now nor resources to help with the <br /> investigations of crime relating to liquor licensed <br /> establishments. <br /> Ferris explained that the State office is still <br /> staffed with those people qualified to answer <br /> questions and assist with application information. <br /> The cutbacks are in the area of implementation - <br /> cities will have to provide the manpower necessary <br /> to conduct investigations and find new sources for <br /> training. Ferris and Leesman felt that various <br /> organizations such as the City Clerks Associations <br /> and various police associations will most likely <br /> implement support systems for their members. <br /> 7 <br />
