UPDATE - VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION DAY, APRIL 20, 1991 - HEATHER
WESTWATER
Westwater: The first annual Volunteer Appreciation Day will
be held on April 20, 1991. This will be done at
three different times. The first will be a
breakfast served by the City Council at the
Recreation Center for the Senior Volunteers. The
second will be the luncheon served for the Parks
and Recreation Volunteers. The third part will be
a dinner for all of the Boards, Commissions,
Library Staff Volunteers and the Law Enforcement
Explorers. Out of the 145 that have been invited
over 120 will be attending. All of the City Coun-
cil members will be present to help out with this
event. All the different volunteers will receive
a cup that says "Louisville Loves Its Volunteers".
B. DISCUSSION/DIRECTION - 1991 LOUISVILLE FUTURES CONFERENCE
Davidson: Asked that this be put on the agenda because of
some concerns as to whether this is a violation of
the Ethics Ordinance. Since there will be a fee
charged. Also will this be considered a public
meeting? We have since gotten an opinion from the
Prosecuting Attorney, Bruce Joss, that says there
could be a problem but basically it's okay.
Please see attachment "A". My question is do we
want to charge the $25.00 to get into this confer-
ence or do we want free admission?
Brand: I made the decision to charge at the conference on
my own, as the City Administrator, as a business
decision. It's going to cost us approximately
$25.00 a person by the time we provide lunch,
refreshments in the morning and refreshments in
the evening. This will also cover the cost of
pUblication, printing and mailing out the report
that will follow the conference. I have been
asked if people would have to attend the lunch?
For those few people who are really serious about
planning the future of Louisville, I think they
would want to stay and have lunch. The morning
sessions will have developed ideas which are going
to be flowing. People who would be attending
would then want to stay with the people that they
have been with and talk about what has occurred
that morning. If people left for lunch it would
not be possible to get them back in an hour and
2
