..,.

keep the conference on schedule.

Howard: I have one major concern with this and that is not
everyone in the city can not afford $25.00.
Seniors that would like to attend may not be able
to afford this when they are on a fixed income. I
would like to see the people who are serious about
the city as the main participant at this
conference. I don't believe that seriousness can
be directly acquainted with monitary
participation. What I would like to see is
something to minimize the effects, not force
people to have to pay. I would like to hear from
everyone. I believe that there are a lot of people
out there that want to participate but are on a
fixed income and $25.00 is just a little too much
and those people should not be excluded from
participating. I would like to split the
difference if at all possible.

Mayor Fauson: I feel that the Administrative decision was
correct, in the sense that it would be difficult
to buy lunches for that many people on tax payers
money. If people came forward and stated that
they could not afford the $25.00, I do not think
they would be excluded from the conference.

Davidson: My major concern is the cost of the conference.
It had been pointed out three or four weeks ago
that there was going to be a charge for the
conference and for some reason when I read it, it
did not register.

Brand: What about a scholarship fund for those people
that can not afford the $25.00 and have the
Finance Committee decide where the funds would
corne from?

Hornbostel: When I saw the registration fee, I thought it
would be five or six dollars. I would like to be
able to have everyone attend this conference. I
feel that we should give the option to people on
where they would want to order their lunch or
bring their lunch or leave for lunch.

Carnival: Asked Brand how she arrived at the fee.

Brand: I took the basic cost of what the lunch will be;
it will be about $7.00. We had to estimate the
cost of drinks in the morning and in the
afternoon, this would be around $3.00 each for
these. We included the printing costs and the
development of the report after the conference is
over, along with mailing the results out.

3
