.",.,
until we got our council packets last Friday. To
me it looks like a very good proposal. I like the
way that the issue is going to be measured. I see
it as a real test as to whether or not this
program is going to work or not. This looks like
something that I can support.
Carnival: The problem that I have with this plan is that it
seems to me that Councilman Howard has indicated
that this is his plan whether he gets the okay of
this Councilor not, he's going to pursue this;
this is his money that he is spending; yet he is
here requesting some funds or participation from
the city. We have identified the Chamber of
Commerce as the executive arm of the city as far
as Economic Development. We fund them and through
their efforts they fund the effort of the entire
business community. There is a process in place
now that he can send this through. I think it is something
that could work if developed a little differently
so that it is something that the Chamber is
supportive of.
Mayor Fauson: Did everyone of the restaurant owners that you
have talked to want to participate in this
program?
Howard: Every owner has told me that they want to
participate.
Carnival: Have you presented this plan as it is to the
Chamber?
Howard: No, I do not think so. I believe that Councilman
Sackett said the Chamber Board would not endorse
this particular plan.
Howard moved to allow staff to help administer the project,
seconded by Davidson. By roll call vote motion was defeated 3-4
with Mayor Fauson, Carnival, Sackett and Szymanski voting no.
BILLS
Hornbostel: On the bills we are paying the Chamber $6,250,
which I am assuming is part of the $25,000, and I
would like to ask that the Chamber let us know
where this money goes. I have been in several
Chamber meetings and they have said they would be
glad to tell us where the money goes, all we have
to do is ask. I am asking at this time. I think
it is very important for us to know how this money
is being spent. I also would like to see the
