-- .
Carnival: Do you have any idea what you could net out of
a parcel?
Baysinger: Boulder County Open Space uses a couple of
different formulas; one is just a blanket on
acreage; and cost per livestock animal per month
that is on the land. We are not going to realize
any great amount of money. I would say in all
probability in the $200.00 to $500.00 range for
the horses that are described in his letter.
Carnival: You don't think that is a lot of money? At least,
what I heard at the last work session over the
budget, $500.00 is a real killer. I agree with
Councilman Davidson's initial comment that
open space is very precious and should be
utilized by all the citizens. I think there is
probably some parcels that are not accessible or
readily accessible and if we have the potential of
raising any kind of income on parcels that are
out in the boonies; possibly having the lessee put
up the fences; improving the property; and we
can net some income out of it, I think we ought
to pursue it.
Hornbostel: How frequently is it used by the railroad and
does the railroad have anything to say about
that? If the easement is right up by the railroad
doesn't the railroad have something to say about
what is done around it?
Baysinger: I understand that if the parcel belongs to us they
would not, if there is an easement area...
Hornbostel: Do they have an easement? The railroad always
has an easement.
Fauson: Western Gas has an easement through the lower
south portion of it.
Hornbostel: The other question is how many trains go
through there? I wouldn't worry about the trains
if there wasn't a whole lot of them, but if there
is a lot and the horses get out.
6
