Based on concerns expressed by numerous residents and comments from
City Council, staff has prepared the following ordinance for consideration. The ordinance
revises speed limits in a residential district to 25 MPH, 30 MPH in a business district, and
30 MPH on collector streets, unless otherwise designated.
Tom Phare, Director of Public Works, reminded Council that this ordinance will probably
not reduce speeds, it takes drivers to reduce speeds. Speed limit compliance for the most
part is voluntary.
Tom Mayer, 580 Wildrose, Louisville, Colorado 80027
Mayer: I was looking through the Council packet, I noticed
there was no mention of school zones.
Phare: School zones are covered specifically in the Model
Traffic Code. This ordinance will not change any of the
existing posted limits.
Davidson moved to adopt Ordinance No. 1052, Series 1991, seconded by Hornbostel. Roll
call was taken. Motion passed 7-0.
ORDINANCE NO. 1053, SERIES 1991 - AMENDING TITLE 10,
LOUISVILLE MUNICIPAL CODE - 2ND READING - PUBLIC HEARING
(MUNICIPAL FINES AND TERMS)
Griffiths read by title only Ordinance No. 1053, Series 1991, "An Ordinance amending Title
10, Louisville Municipal Code, concerning compulsory insurance of vehicles, verification of
vehicle emissions tests, handicapped parking, establishing penalties, and amending Chapter
1.24 concerning prisoners."
S
