..1
REQUEST FOR FEE EXEMPTION - RECREATION CENTER FACILITIES
Jeanne Salazar is requesting a fee waiver for usage of the Louisville Recreation Center.
The request is for usage of the Brooks and Crown Mine Rooms at the Center. The rooms
would be used for a football banquet for one of the Louisville 10 year old teams from 12:30
p.m. - 2:30 p.m. The rooms are tentatively scheduled to accommodate the banquet and
there are no conflicting requests to date.
Established rental rates for non-profit groups for the Brooks and Crown Room are $25.00
per hour. This request represents a $100.00 fee waiver request.
Council has requested a work session to discuss fee waivers and donations. However, with
the number of other work session items scheduled, this item has not been addressed.
Staff recommends that Council waive the fee and direct staff to prepare policies addressing
fee waivers for a Council work session.
Jeanne Salazar requested that this be waived for future use so that it did not have to come
back before Council every year.
Hornbostel moved that Council approve this request for fee waiver for this year and have
a work session in the next three months to discuss this issue, seconded by Szymanski. All
in favor.
DISCUSSION/DIRECTION - OPEN SPACE LAND USAGE REQUEST
Mr. John S. Evans has contacted City staff regarding usage of open space for grazing
horses. The property for this discussion lies directly east of Empire Drive, and Boulder
County Road on the far western border to the open space. Mr. Evans has two horses and
one pony.
Steve Baysinger, Director of Parks & Recreation, contacted Boulder County and in their
agreements for grazing has incorporated a charge of $13.00 a month per head of livestock
when they do allow grazing on their open space land.
Howard: I was reading the "Louisville Parks & Recreation
Citizen's Needs Assessment" and of the items that were
listed, the use of open space for other reasons seemed
to be reasonably ambivalent. People don't seem to give
strong indications one way or the other. I go back to the
original statement that I made, which is, do the benefits
to the City of Louisville out weigh the cost in essentially
lost open space.
4
