Board Reports <br />Bee City <br />Bee City Presentation <br />- Thursday Evening, February 29, 2024, Don Murray, People and Pollinator <br />Action Network, "Creating Pollinator -Safe Ecosystems" Community <br />Meeting Room, First Floor, Louisville Library 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. <br />- Presentation Description: What you can do at the state, local and backyard <br />level to ensure a safe environment for pollinators of all kinds. The talk will <br />cover why pollinators are important, why they are having problems, why <br />native plants are important for them and what you can d❑ to create <br />pesticide free neighborhoods where pollinators can thrive. There will be a <br />discussion of the efforts of the People and Pollinators Action Network <br />(PPAN) at the state and municipal level to support pollinators and how you <br />can get involved. <br />- Speaker Bio: Don Murray is a meteorologist working at NOAA on issues <br />related to climate change and renewable energy. He is a member of the <br />board of directors of the People and Pollinator Action Network (PPAN). He <br />stopped using pesticides in his yard and started planting flowers for <br />pollinators in 2007, started keeping honeybees in 2013, and became a <br />neighborhood leader for Bee Safe Boulder in 2014. He worked with the <br />Boulder County PPAN chapter to encourage the City of Longmont to <br />reduce/eliminate the use of pesticides on city property, frequently works <br />events for PPAN, and teaches kids about pollinators at summer camp, as he <br />believes them to be the future of the fight to save pollinators. <br />RAB/PPLAB - top few priorities (see packet); defined a plan: <br />1.
