4. Direct economic growth in a fiscally responsible way, to maintain <br />quality amenities and high service levels for residents. <br />5. Be responsive to market opportunities as they occur, and maintain <br />and enhance the City's competitive position for economic <br />development that adheres to the community's vision. <br />Policy: Positioning <br />6. Work to maintain an "open for business" municipal environment, <br />where services to new and existing businesses are delivered in a <br />timely and efficient manner. <br />7. Make strategic public investments to most effectively encourage <br />private investment that responds to the community's vision and <br />needs. <br />8. Cooperate with surrounding communities to explore opportunities for <br />regional solutions to economic development challenges. <br />Housing <br />1. The character and identity of residential neighborhoods will be <br />maintained. <br />2. Support housing development and redevelopment strategies that <br />promote a variety of housing types to meet the changing economic, <br />social and multi - generational needs of Louisville. <br />3. Allow for housing opportunities with densities that will support vibrant <br />retail and commercial centers and also take advantage of public <br />transit locations. <br />4. Encourage the development of well- designed, compatible and high - <br />quality residential areas that have a mix of unit types and pricing that <br />meets the different economic and social needs of residents who <br />would like to reside in the community. <br />5. Promote housing strategies to increase the supply of affordably priced <br />homes. <br />6. Pursue strategies that result in appropriately located mixed -use and <br />mixed - income developments, including designating developable land <br />for mixed -use development. <br />7. (TBD: develop future principle describing appropriate locations for <br />future housing per the preferred alternative) <br />Parks, Recreation, and Open Space <br />1. Recreation and Senior Services programs and facilities will meet the <br />existing and future recreation needs of all Louisville residents. <br />2. Open space will protect unique and significant natural features and <br />important plant and animal communities. <br />
