TOWN OF SUPERIOR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br />Policy 3.11 Upon initial development of the Town Center development area, <br />encourage developers to create a Town Center Business Association that works in <br />conjunction with the existing Town of Superior Chamber of Commerce. Direct the <br />Town Center Business Association to establish and implement Town Center goals. <br />Coordinate public investment with private investors and development projects. <br />Policy 3.12 Target public and civic uses such as community centers, libraries, and <br />new municipal facilities to locate within or adjacent to the Town Center. <br />Policy 3.13 Explore options for funding public improvements that will broaden <br />the appeal of the Town Center area public art programs, trail systems, etc. <br />Policy 3.14 Identify a unique, niche commercial/entertainment regional draw for <br />the Town Center that stimulates additional commercial activity. <br />Goal 4: Maintain and strengthen Original Superior to preserve the neighborhood <br />character by promoting human scale and pedestrian- orientedi development within the <br />larger community. <br />Goal 4: Promote human scale and pedestrian - oriented development. <br />Discussion: The historical context and character of Original Superior significantly <br />distinguishes the area from adjacent residential and commercial development. Set in the <br />historical heart of the Town, Original Superior conveys a sense of place and time and is <br />located near existing civic uses and within the Coal Creek drainage basin. Historically - <br />scaled homes align gridded streets and exemplify a character unique from other <br />neighborhoods and offers the opportunity to celebrate the history of Superior. <br />Policy 4.1 Protect Original Superior from conflicting or changing land uses. <br />However, do not preclude rezoning proposals that propose to integrate new land uses <br />into the area in a manner that protects the remaining existing residential use.
