City Council Water Committee -Draft - Meeting Minutes Friday, October 8, 2010 nd Council Chambers, City Hall, 2 Floor 7:30-9:00 am (Front doors will be unlocked at 7:15 am) I. Call to Order Chairman Robert Muckle called the meeting to order at 7:35 am. II. Roll Call was taken and the following members were present: City Council: Mr. Muckle and Mr. Dalton Absent: Mr. Sisk Staff Present: Mr. Copeland, Mr. Fleming, Mr. Hill, Ms. Kelley, Mr. Mason, Mr. Mathes, Mr. Phare, and Mr. Watson. III. Approval of Agenda: Agenda approved. IV. Approval of the Minutes: Minutes of July 16, 2010 meeting approved as written. V. PUBLIC COMMENTS ON ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA: no public comments VI. Update Water Resources The usual Water Supply & Demand Analysis table and chart, updated through the end of September, was presented showing the projected demand, storage and diversions through the end of 2011. Lower demands have increased the availability of water shown on the table and chart compared to the numbers presented in July. The chart showing current year data (diversions, demands, and storage) compared to a 5-year running average showed similar trends. A brief discussion followed on the existing capacities of various system components and how the system is typically operated. Due to the economic downturn, the City has been approached by individuals with C-BT (Colorado-Big Thompson) for sale at a good price. This may be a good time to pick-up additional C-BT units, as recommended by the 2003 Update to the Raw Water Master Plan (600 additional units). Also, the City owns a valuable senior water right, but due to its location on the stream it has been difficult to utilize (realizing 0-30% yield).
