BRaD <br />Meeting Summary <br />October 4, 2010 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />Altan Alma Organic Market – has opened—located next to Sweet Cow and Lucky Pie. Small store <br />selling organic fruits and vegetables and other assorted food items. <br />Daily Camera Business Plus article – a great article published last week focusing on downtown <br />Louisville and the restaurant scene. <br />Planning Director, Troy Russ, gave an update on the Highway 42 Revitalization Plan and on the 5- <br />Step Plan to move forward on the development ahead of transit. Troy presented the plan on <br />behalf of the Louisville Revitalization Committee (LRC) and the Planning Department at last week’s <br />City Council Study Session. <br />Safeway – cautiously optimistic on progress. <br />th <br />King Soopers – proposed gas station development going to Planning Commission on October 14 <br />th <br />and City Council on October 19. <br />Blockbuster – reported on their bankruptcy filing <br />A company looking for an additional 50,000 square feet of warehouse to use on a temporary basis <br />in CTC – credit was given to Bonnie Star and Mike Jones for working on this request. <br />Sam’s – Moving in a positive direction; Wal Mart has responded with a counter offer – <br />announcement should be by year-end. <br />A&W – marketing brochure exists for this property – staff is in contact with a possible local investor <br />but lease costs are high. <br />Vestas – company searching for another site to locate an R&D facility; Vestas looking at several <br />locations across the country. City staff prepared an incentives letter as a means to convey the <br />City’s desire to have Vestas pick Louisville for the location of this facility. <br />NITA – moving to Boulder. Louisville will lose travelers into Louisville who stay at local hotels. <br />Restaurant Sales Tax – the sales tax for all Louisville restaurants is up across the City. <br />Miscellaneous <br /> – <br />Bonnie suggested that possibly in the spring of next year pulling together a real estate tour with a <br />target audience of brokers and developers. A budget would need to be identified and the need to <br />find a sponsor. BRAD members voted in favor and were in support of the idea going forward. <br />nd <br />Michael Menaker commented that he was in support of the 2 reading of the Sign Ordinance <br />th <br />scheduled for the October 5 City Council Meeting and went on to congratulate the Planning <br />Department on their good work. He encouraged everyone to write letters to the editor in support of <br />the Use Tax, commented on the minutes from the last Historic Preservation Commission meeting <br />where it was written that they are struggling with incentives--they need to come up with a plan for <br />business incentives. Michael also commented that he appreciates the involvement of City Council <br /> <br />
